Canva is an online design platform. You start from a template or a blank page, add your logo, photos and words, and download or share the result. Its AI tools draft text, generate images, resize designs for each platform and tidy up photos.
For most Australian small businesses it replaces a lot of work that used to go to a designer: social posts, flyers, menus, quotes, proposals, presentations and short videos.
An AI assistant inside Canva that drafts designs, copy and images from a description.
Drafts and rewrites text for posts, flyers, presentations and documents.
Turns one design into the sizes each platform needs, in one step.
Splits a flat image into editable layers so you can move or change parts.
Clean product, team and job photos without a designer.
Translates the text in a design, useful for multilingual customers and tourism.
Generates images, short video, music and voiceover from prompts.
Keeps logos, colours and fonts consistent across your team (paid plans).
How much AI you can use depends on your plan. The Free plan includes a limited number of AI uses.
Canva’s AI Connector links Canva to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Microsoft Copilot. From inside your assistant you can search your designs, create content, autofill brand templates and export files. Some actions, like Brand Templates and autofill, need a paid Canva plan.
This is one of the easiest ways to try agentic AI: ask your assistant to make the design, then finish it in Canva.
